Trey Bell, LCSW, MMTCP Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, Somatic Anxiety Therapist, IIN Certified Holistic Health Coach, ACE Certified Personal Trainer

Movement has been a staple in Trey’s life since he can remember. Growing up in small town Delaware, team sports like baseball and soccer were always a top priority, along with family and friends. Trey was offered and accepted a baseball scholarship to Long Island University in Brooklyn where he took his game to it’s highest level before being injured just weeks before his senior season. Although he didn’t return to his top form on the field, he was able to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Social Work through a red shirt year and a graduate assistantship with the university. Trying to balance a full schedule of practice, weight training, school and an internship while watching his batting average and baseball skill set drop. What felt painful at the time proved to be a positive avenue for his future.

After college, Trey found himself exploring the globe from Southeast Asia to Central and South America and all over the U.S including residences in both Northern Arizona and Alaska. Little did he know that traveling would not only be a physical and geographical exploration but also one of his inner self. A lifetime of identification as a baseball player came to an end and the internal work of “who am I” began. Travels to southeast Asia, in particular, led to interest in meditation and mindfulness as well as opening his eyes to cultures and different ways to live.

Trey eventually returned to his home area in southern Delaware where he started as an outpatient psychotherapist. In the years following his return, he became very interested in the mind-body connection getting certifications as a Personal Trainer and Holistic Health Coach which he still uses with clients to help them connect back to the body. And after years of an inconsistent meditation practice, he eventually committed to a daily practice leading him to take and complete the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP) with the world renowned teachers, Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. Trey is currently in the follow up Mindfulness Mentor Training with Tara and Jack. Following the completion of the MMTCP, he studied at the Embody Lab to receive a certificate as Somatic Anxiety Therapist understanding how the body often tells us how we’re feeling and how to learn to regulate our nervous system through this connection.

After spending the bulk of his life on the East Coast, Trey built out a camper van to travel the country and connect more with nature via his two favorite hobbies surfing and rock climbing. As he’s learned through his time in nature, the mountains and ocean bring different feels that help to ground, self-reflect, challenge and have fun. These feelings and Trey’s training and lived experience have helped birth Live Wise’s versions of retreats where we mix therapeutic interventions, nature, mindfulness and sport.

In his free time, you can catch Trey renovating his home in Southern Colorado, van camping on the road, climbing, surfing, reading, drinking coffee or spending time with his family.

Testimonials

I assumed I was the picture of health until Trey Bell challenged me to cut carbs and sugar for two weeks. 24 hours in is when I realized how toxic I was. Clean eating changed my physical appearance as well as my mental health and athletic performance, not to mention my skin, and sleep quality. You can become used to feeling a certain way and assume it’s normal, completely unaware of how much better you could be. Just because you look healthy doesn’t mean you are.

As a professional adventure athlete I need to be at the top of my game year-round. Whether I am running, climbing, or snowboarding, I need to train my body to be strong yet balanced with nutrition and rest. Trey Bell has helped me find and maintain that balance with training programs, nutritional advice, and life coaching. I am now stronger in the mountains and feel more energized than ever before. I would absolutely recommend Trey to anyone who wants to become their healthiest and strongest self.
